High Tea at The Lounge @ Intercontinental Hotel

High tea is such a guilty indulgent for me. I always feel that  should be working instead of sitting around sipping floral scented tea from porcelain cups and nibbling on sweets. But what a luxury it is, to have high tea on a weekday afternoon knowing that everyone (else!) is hard at work.

Intercontinental hotel offers a dual high tea set options which gives us more options and great for sharing. They have a English 4-tier tea set at $38++ (non-replenishable), and also Peranakan-style afternoon tea (non-replenisable)-a fusion of west meets peranakan (S$38++/pax). Both sets comes with a refillable coffee/tea.

English Tea Set(Set for 2)

The 4 tier tea set also came with a side of Truffled Mash with Duck Meat which was really good (4.5/5).

The scones, one of my favourites went really well with cream and jam (4/5). We also enjoyed the caramel tart which had a good tart base and was not overly sweet. The macarons, while it has a good texture consistency but too sweet and I had to gulp down a cup of tea after that

The sandwiches and the other sweets were pretty decent but nothing memorable.


Peranakan Tea Set(Set for 1)

In particular, We enjoyed the Kuih Pie Tee, rainbow cake(which was really moist and I thoughht that its a nice twist to the traditional colorful kueh). 

I particularly enjoyed the Pandan Mousse Cake.

It was a nice afternoon spent at the lounge with my siblings and grandma. With good company, good ambience and good food, what more in life could we ask for?
