Doong Ji Korean restaurant is located along the same row of shophouses at Tanjong Katong Road where popular shops like Chin Mei Chin Confectionary and Katong Laksa sit. Their pricing is pretty reasonable and lunch promotions on weekdays go for $8.90 each. Sounds promising, but we didn't have a good time there. The side dishes were fairly mediocre, there simply wasn't anything worth asking for a refill for.
The Spicy Tofu Stew with Pork ($14.50) tasted like tofu added to spicy Nongshim instant noodles' soup. It smelled - and tasted - exactly like Nongshim ramen soup. It seems ridiculous to pay so much for soup of this quality. (0/5) It's horrible compared to Borgna Korean restaurant.
The presentation of their Beef Bibimbap ($11.50) was good and the beef slices was generous. However the dish was bland, and the rice was too moist. (1/5) No amount of red chilli paste could hide this fact.
Another thing that I dislike is that they do not serve tap water. But they have bigger problems to work on... Thankfully Nungsongyee is only a few minutes drive away.
